Introduction

XTB started in Poland in 2002 and has grown into one of Europe’s largest listed brokers, with its parent company on the Warsaw Stock Exchange since 2016. It offers two things in one account: CFD trading on forex, indices and commodities, and commission-free investing in real stocks and ETFs.

This review covers XTB’s costs, platform, regulation and who it suits, based on XTB’s own pages and independent reviews from October 2026.

History of XTB

XTB, originally X-Trade Brokers, was founded in 2002 and received its Polish brokerage license in 2005. It expanded across Europe, opened a UK company regulated by the FCA, and listed on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 2016, which means its finances are public.

XTB built its own trading platform, xStation, and in April 2024 retired MetaTrader 4 entirely to focus on it. Recent growth has come from its commission-free stock and ETF offering.

Where does XTB Operate

  • Poland and the EU: XTB S.A., licensed by the Polish Financial Supervision Authority (KNF)
  • UK: XTB Limited, authorized by the FCA
  • Cyprus: a CySEC-regulated entity
  • Middle East: a DFSA-regulated entity in Dubai
  • Other countries: XTB International, licensed by the FSC in Belize

XTB says the group operates in 11 countries with local regulation. It does not accept US clients.

Investment Offering

XTB lists more than 12,000 instruments:

  • Forex: 69 currency pairs
  • Stocks: 6,900+ real shares and stock CFDs
  • ETFs: 2,300+
  • Indices: 20+
  • Commodities: 30+
  • Crypto CFDs: 60+ (not for UK retail clients)

The ability to hold real stocks and ETFs commission-free next to your trading account is XTB’s biggest draw.

Trading Platforms

xStation is XTB’s only platform, available on the web, desktop and mobile. It is fast and well designed, with built-in market sentiment, a stock screener, economic calendar, news and a trading calculator. Independent reviewers consistently rank it among the best in-house platforms.

The downside is choice. XTB dropped MetaTrader 4 in 2024 and does not offer MetaTrader 5, cTrader or TradingView, so traders who rely on Expert Advisors or custom MetaTrader indicators should look elsewhere.

XTB Account Types

  • Standard: spread-only CFD pricing, from about 0.8 pips on EUR/USD, plus commission-free stocks and ETFs up to €100,000 a month.
  • Swap Free: for clients who need swap-free trading.
  • Professional: higher leverage for clients who qualify, with fewer protections.

There is no minimum deposit on the Standard account, and a free demo account is available.

Accepted Countries

XTB serves clients in the countries where it has local entities, including Poland and much of the EU, the UK and the Middle East, plus a set of other countries through XTB International in Belize. It does not accept US residents. Your leverage, protections and some products depend on which entity you join.

Copy Trading Features

XTB does not offer copy trading. If following other traders is important to you, eToro, AvaTrade or XM are better choices.

Deposit & Withdrawals

There is no minimum deposit. Bank transfers and card deposits are free, while Skrill deposits cost 2% and Neteller 1%. PayPal is not offered.

Withdrawals go to a bank account in your name and are usually processed the next business day. On the international entity they are free above $50, with a $30 fee below that. Fees and limits vary by entity, so check the terms for your country.

XTB Spread and Commissions

  • Forex and CFDs: spread only, from about 0.8 pips on EUR/USD on the Standard account
  • Real stocks and ETFs: 0% commission up to €100,000 of monthly turnover, then 0.2% with a €10 minimum

XTB is good value for investors buying stocks and ETFs and reasonable for forex, though raw-spread brokers like Pepperstone and IC are cheaper for very active forex traders.

XTB Fees and Costs

  • Currency conversion: 0.5% whenever a conversion happens, for example buying US stocks from a euro or pound account
  • Inactivity fee: €10 a month, only after a full year with no trades and no deposit in the last 90 days
  • E-wallet deposits: 2% on Skrill and 1% on Neteller
  • Small withdrawals: a fee below a minimum amount on some entities
  • Swaps: on leveraged positions held overnight, unless you use the Swap Free account

Unique Features

  • xStation: one of the best in-house platforms, with sentiment data, a stock screener and built-in analysis.
  • Commission-free stocks and ETFs: up to €100,000 a month, alongside CFD trading in the same account.
  • Listed company: XTB’s results are public because its parent trades on the Warsaw Stock Exchange.
